About The Position

The Student Healthcare Assistant is responsible for attending Norton Healthcare classes as assigned per orientation and employment. If appropriately assessed and deemed competent, the Student Healthcare Assistant may provide validated skills under the direction of licensed nursing staff as assigned. Performs direct and indirect tasks as appropriate to facilitate safe, quality patient care while ensuring efficient, smooth functioning unit operations. Provides administrative support as defined.

Responsibilities

• Attend Norton Healthcare classes as assigned per orientation and employment.
• Provide validated skills under the direction of licensed nursing staff as assigned.
• Perform direct and indirect tasks to facilitate safe, quality patient care.
• Ensure efficient, smooth functioning unit operations.
• Provide administrative support as defined.
• Perform phlebotomy, sitter duties, vital signs, intake and output, blood sugar monitoring, turning, bathing, bed making, feeding, ambulation, and safety rounds as assigned by unit nursing leadership.
