About The Position

The UCLA Department of Psychiatry is looking for a part-time Clinical Therapist to join the Student Behavioral Health Services (BHS) Program. This role focuses on providing comprehensive mental health services, including therapy and medication management, to UCLA students enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). The therapist will primarily work with patients experiencing high acuity or chronic mental health issues, ensuring they receive appropriate care and support.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Valid CA State License in Marriage Family Therapy (LMFT).
• Ability to apply and maintain UCLA Medical Staff membership.
• Working knowledge of general theoretical and clinical models.
• Skill in writing clear and complete clinical notes and summaries of clinical evaluations.
• Experience interacting with professional healthcare providers in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software programs.
• Ability to work well independently and in teams.
• Ability to maintain equanimity and professional demeanor in any situation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical evaluations of new patients.
• Assess suitability for outpatient therapeutic care and additional mental health services.
• Provide individual, family, and/or group psychotherapeutic treatment.
• Formulate treatment plans that may include therapy, counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals to outside resources/specialists.
• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical-behavioral therapy, or psychotherapy.
• Maintain detailed and accurate clinical records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
• Provide consultation to peer clinicians or specific treatment.
