About The Position

General Responsibilities: The Student Guggenheim Gallery Assistant is pivotal in maintaining essential gallery operations, including supervising exhibitions, managing events, and engaging visitors. This role involves keeping the gallery spaces clean and organized and supporting the Director and Coordinator with exhibition installations and related public relations activities. Assistants are tasked with the setup and breakdown of exhibitions, conducting gallery tours, and managing scheduling for various groups including students, faculty, and external guests. They are also responsible for supervising exhibitions, handling artwork logistics such as packing and storage, maintaining detailed records of gallery inventory and condition reports, and ensuring the operational efficiency of storage and supply areas. Responsibilities Graphic Designer: In addition to general gallery responsibilities, the Graphic Designer is responsible for developing clear, engaging, and visually cohesive materials that support the gallery’s exhibitions, events, and public programs. This includes designing print and digital promotional materials such as postcards, posters, email graphics, signage, exhibition didactics, and social media assets. The Graphic Designer helps maintain a consistent visual identity across the gallery’s communications and ensures that all materials are accurate, well organized, and aligned with the gallery’s professional standards. Duties may also include preparing files for print and web use, updating existing templates, resizing and adapting designs for different platforms, and collaborating with the Director, Coordinator, Photographer, and Social Media Specialist on timely promotional campaigns. The role requires attention to detail, strong visual judgment, and an understanding of how design supports both communication and public engagement.
