About The Position

Pursuant to Article VI, Section 9 of The Constitution of The Student Body of Florida Polytechnic University; "Unless a more restrictive standard is stated in the Constitution, to be eligible for an office within Student Government Association, a student must have and maintain an overall 2.5 grade point average on al work attempted as a member of the Student Body and conform to all requirements imposed by the Department of Student Affairs. Candidates for the offices of the Executive Branch shall have completed a minimum of three (3) academic semesters, excluding summer semesters, at Florida Polytechnic University. Application is open on April 7th, 2026, and will end on April 15th, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Additional and more specific rules may be found in the Elections Code. JOB DESCRIPTION FALL 2026 GENERAL EXECUTIVE POSITIONS: Chief of Staff Job Description: The Chief of Staff shall serve as the manager of the Executive Branch, at the discretion of the Student Body President and Vice President, and assist Student Government Association in all leadership development initiatives of the 9th Term Administration. Treasurer Job Description: The SGA Treasurer positions holds the role of ensuring activity and service fees of the student body are being used by all Student Government Associations agencies, bureaus, entities, and organizations in a responsible and effective manner for the utmost benefit of the Florida Polytechnic University’s students. Sustainability President Job Description: The Sustainability President is responsible for creating and encouraging action on the University level that increases the environmental efficiency and responsibility of the campus, with longstanding projects and initiatives. Director of SGA General Operations Job Description: The Director of SGA General Operations assists the Student Body President and Vice President and acts as a liaison between the Executive Branch and the Lakeland Community. This position will also serve as the liaison between the Executive Branch and Local, State, and Federal Government. The director will advocate externally regarding issues that directly affect the Student Body by meeting with government officials and planning Florida Poly Lobbying Days and Rally in Tally in conjunction with the Student Body President and the Florida Student Association. They will also be tasked with the upkeep of SGA assets and operations, as well as ensuring that SGA subsidiaries are compliant with SGA, University, and State regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Must maintain a minimum of a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Must be a full-time student.
  • Must not be under current disciplinary probation, suspension, or expulsion.
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of professionalism.
  • Must be able to think critically and logically in any given situation.
  • Experience working with a team.
  • Ability to take initiative in the workplace and create strategic goals.
  • The SGA Treasurer should have a working understanding of the Student Government Association Constitution, Statues, and Executive Branch Handbook.

Responsibilities

  • Chief of Staff: Act as the Chief Information Officer of the Student Body.
  • Chief of Staff: Assist the President and Vice President in overseeing the Executive Branch.
  • Chief of Staff: Enhance the quality of leadership within Student Government, specifically within the Executive Branch by working with SGA Advisor and other entities.
  • Chief of Staff: Record SGA Executive Branch meeting minutes or appoint an aide to do so in their stead.
  • Chief of Staff: Send reminders regarding meetings and events to the SGA Executive Branch.
  • Chief of Staff: Post minutes of the SGA Executive Branch meeting in a public forum.
  • Chief of Staff: Appoint aides or other officials not provided for by the Constitution, if deemed necessary.
  • Chief of Staff: Regularly hold meetings with members of the Executive Cabinet to ensure they are fulfilling their duties.
  • Chief of Staff: Perform any other duties as necessary to execute the initiatives of the Executive Branch.
  • Chief of Staff: Assist with management of a diverse team of student leaders.
  • Treasurer: Act as the Chief Financial Officer of the Student Body.
  • Treasurer: Ensure fiscal responsibility among Student Government Association entities, student organizations, and Student Affairs departments.
  • Treasurer: Keep complete and accurate accounts of all Student Body funds on deposit with the University Comptroller and the Finance department.
  • Treasurer: Provide an update to all entities of SGA outlining account balances at the start of each semester, or upon request.
  • Treasurer: Have the power to veto legislation pertaining to finance as provided for by the Constitution.
  • Treasurer: Comply with the Title 7 Finance Code
  • Treasurer: Serve as a financial advisor to the Student Body President and Vice President and the staff of the Executive Branch.
  • Treasurer: Attend all official meetings of the Audit and Budget Committee as a non-voting member. If the Treasurer cannot personally attend, the Treasurer shall appoint an aide to go in their stead.
  • Treasurer: Have a working knowledge of the Student Government Association Purchase Request System.
  • Treasurer: Serve as one of the authorizing signatures on requests pertaining to finance.
  • Treasurer: Be responsible for submitting all Executive Branch purchase orders.
  • Treasurer: Any other duties as necessary to execute the mission of the Executive Branch.
  • Sustainability President: Shall be the governing figure for the Agency.
  • Sustainability President: Shall head each Sustainability Executive Board meeting, maintain an agenda per meeting, and maintain order and direction of the Agency as a whole.
  • Sustainability President: Is responsible for scheduling meeting and event times and maintaining relations with the SGA Executive Branch.
  • Sustainability President: Serves on the SGA Executive Cabinet.
  • Sustainability President: Shall attend all SGA Executive Branch meetings as required by the Student Body President.
  • Sustainability President: Ensures all events take place throughout the scheduled dates and times throughout the academic year.
  • Sustainability President: Shall manage and oversee the initiatives created by the Agency.
  • Sustainability President: Acts as the liaison between the Office of Student Activities and Involvement, Sustainability Agency, and SGA.
  • Sustainability President: Ensures all Cabinet Members of the Agency are in good membership standing, with the assistance of the SGA Advisor.
  • Sustainability President: Appoints each Sustainability Executive Board position with the assistance of the SGA Advisor.
  • Sustainability President: Any other duties as necessary to execute the mission of the Executive Branch and the Sustainability Agency.
  • Director of SGA General Operations: Maintain the general upkeep and organization of all SGA assets, including the SGA Office, SGA Golf Cart, SGA Connex, and SGA Desk.
  • Director of SGA General Operations: Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive tracking system for all SGA assets.
  • Director of SGA General Operations: Conduct periodic audits to ensure accountability and proper usage of SGA resources.
  • Director of SGA General Operations: Coordinate all logistical aspects of events, including: Submitting and managing purchase requests Communicating and negotiating with vendors Collaborating with university administration to ensure compliance and support
  • Director of SGA General Operations: Maintain and update SGA documentation for Executive Branch as directed by the Student Body President.
  • Director of SGA General Operations: Ensure operational procedures and records are accurate, current, and accessible.
