The Student Financial Counselor II at Prairie View A&M University is a vital member of the Care team, dedicated to providing comprehensive outreach, financial literacy, and counseling services to students and their families regarding financial aid programs. This role involves educating students and parents about eligibility requirements, financing options, billing inquiries, and the various policies and procedures associated with financial aid at the University. The financial counselor is responsible for reviewing and analyzing financial aid applications, student accounting records, and resolving any discrepancies or unusual situations that may arise. This position requires a highly motivated and innovative professional who possesses exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to delivering outstanding customer service and support to students and their families. In this role, the financial counselor will engage in day-to-day case management and advisement, providing personalized support to help students navigate the complex financial aid application processes. The counselor will coordinate follow-up activities for new students, ensuring timely completion of FAFSA and other necessary documentation. Direct interaction with students and parents will occur through appointments, walk-ins, and various communication platforms. The counselor will also conduct outreach initiatives, including phone calls, emails, and events, to assist current and prospective students with their financial aid needs. Additionally, the financial counselor will collaborate with other members of the CARE team, including academic advisors, to ensure that outreach and programming are cohesive and aligned with institutional objectives.
