Under the general direction of the Student Financial Support Manager, the Student Financial Advisor is responsible for assisting students in understanding the financial aid and student account processes for Saint Leo University's programs. This role emphasizes providing optimal student service with every interaction and is stationed in person on the University Campus. The advisor will engage with prospective and enrolled students, offering guidance on financial aid programs and student account requirements through various communication channels, including in-person visits, phone calls, and emails. The advisor will research financial aid issues, ensuring forms are complete and accurate, and verify information reported on student applications and other documentation. Additionally, they will address student account issues, including processing payments, setting up payment arrangements, and advising on bills and outstanding balances. The role requires a commitment to integrity and ethical behavior, especially when handling confidential information. The advisor must interpret and comply with university, federal, state, and institutional regulations governing student financial aid and accounts, maintaining a current understanding of relevant guidelines. Collaboration with other departments is essential to meet financial aid service expectations consistently. The advisor will participate in meetings and events as assigned, supporting recruitment and retention efforts across departments. Providing exemplary student service is a priority, and the advisor must communicate positively and accurately with students and internal customers. Critical thinking skills are necessary for problem-solving issues with students. The position requires the ability to work an 8-hour shift between 8 am and 6 pm EST, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed. Punctuality and good attendance are mandatory for this role.
