About The Position

The counselor's role is to guide students and parents through the financial aid process, ensuring they have a clear understanding of funding options for education. This position focuses on providing support to current and prospective students, particularly those in the Hilbert College Global (HCG) program, through various communication methods including appointments, phone calls, and video conferences.

Requirements

  • Experience in financial aid process and delivery systems at a not-for-profit institution of higher education.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience and knowledge of PowerFaids, PowerCampus, and/or NetPartner preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Counsel current and prospective students regarding financial aid and tuition payment matters.
  • Communicate effectively with students about their individual status in the Financial Aid application process.
  • Facilitate the packaging process by advising students on the proper filing of required applications and supporting documentation.
  • Manage the application, delivery, and certification of Federal PLUS and alternative loans.
  • Review PLUS denials and requests on a case-by-case basis.
  • Perform verification including requesting additional documentation as needed.
  • Provide educational services such as exit interviews, financial aid nights, open houses, orientation, FAFSA workshops, internal training, default management, and financial literacy activities.
  • Post documents received in the system.
  • Perform TAP estimates.
  • Complete other duties as assigned and demonstrate willingness to cross-train.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $21.63 per hour ($45,000 annually)
