Summary The Student Engineer will work closely with Project Engineers and others while becoming familiar with WesTech's values, projects, equipment, and processes. They will assist with design/modeling of equipment, mechanical, and structural engineering analysis and design. The position offers opportunities to learn and contribute to the engineering, development, and construction of Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants through hands-on exposure, mentorship, and observation. Candidates for this position may be required to pass pre-employment and periodic screenings, including background checks, drug and alcohol tests, or other necessary assessments.

Requirements

  • Actively pursuing bachelor’s degree at an accredited university, with continued enrollment throughout employment .
  • Data reduction and interpretation.
  • Ability to work well with others and interact professionally.
  • Ability to manage completing priorities in an effective and efficient manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Sophomore or Junior-level student studying Mechanical, Structural, Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering; or Construction Management.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, Inventor, Plant 3D, or SolidWorks.
  • Understanding of centrifugal and/or positive displacement pumping systems.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards (PIP, ASME, AISC, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare engineering submittal documentation.
  • Model mechanical components and equipment in Inventor.
  • Create and edit drawings in AutoCAD and Inventor.
  • Design piping layout and routing plans in Plant 3D.
  • Perform mechanical evaluation of rotating equipment, valves, and instruments.
  • Review technical specifications and industry standards.
