The Licking Regional Educational Service Center is seeking a Student Engagement and Resource Specialist to serve Newark High School students. The Student Engagement and Resource Specialist is responsible for providing guidance and support to high school students, with a focus on, but not exclusive to, students who are in the Work Based Learning (WBL) program or are English Language Learners (ELL), foster, or homeless. This specialist will promote the five core Social Emotional Learning Competencies of Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills and Responsible Decision-Making to help students overcome obstacles and reach their full potential. The specialist will build trusting relationships with students, assess and define challenge areas, develop goals and provide accountability and encouragement. The specialist will connect students and their families to school and community resources as needed and maintain communication with administration, teachers, students and families.

  • Completion of undergraduate core program, public education or social work, behavioral science, child development or comparable education preferred.
  • 4 yrs training or experience in supervisory, administrative, managerial, as related to youth development, juvenile corrections/detention and/or public education.
  • Excellent oral communications skills, professional writing ability, and the ability to listen and relate to students and adults
  • Understanding of or motivated to acquire cultural competency in a high poverty environment.
