About The Position

The Student Engagement and Outreach Program Coordinator at the University of Notre Dame is responsible for developing and organizing student development initiatives within RecSports, supervising student staff, and overseeing programming and engagement opportunities. This full-time position requires collaboration with RecSports professionals to implement programmatic objectives and data-collecting strategies, ensuring a comprehensive collegiate campus recreation program. The role includes direct supervision of marketing assistants and front desk staff, with responsibilities extending to training, program execution, and marketing strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in recreation administration, sport management, leisure studies, higher education administration, marketing, communications, advertising, leadership development, business administration, or a comparable degree.
  • Current American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid for Professional Rescuers Instructor certification, or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Skills in leadership, development, communication, marketing, and assessment in a campus recreational sports department.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented workplace and work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • 2-year graduate assistantship in recreation or higher education.
  • Membership and participation in professional organizations.
  • Knowledge of higher education marketing and communications, specifically collegiate recreation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and organize RecSports student development initiatives.
  • Supervise student marketing assistants and office front desk staff.
  • Oversee programming and engagement opportunities within RecSports.
  • Conduct training and development for student staff.
  • Manage student staff employment and risk management records.
  • Review and submit bi-monthly employee payroll for supervised positions.
  • Conduct employee evaluations and provide continuous feedback.
  • Organize and execute student staff appreciation events.
  • Design and implement student development programs for personal and professional growth.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of student development programs.
  • Manage the RecSports student-employee hiring process.
  • Organize office budgets and track expenditures for student staff training and events.
  • Develop marketing strategies and campaigns for RecSports.
  • Create and maintain resource materials for student employees.
  • Document department events through photography and videography.
  • Plan and implement RecSports summer activities and offerings.
