About The Position

The Work Study student's primary responsibility involves assisting elementary school children with the development of their reading skills. Reading tutors are supervised by elementary school professional staff. Activities supporting the development of skills may involve oral reading, spelling, phonics, pronunciation, individual or group activities, word/picture matching, and other reading development activities as deemed appropriate by the tutor's supervisor.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in 6 credit hours during Fall or Winter, or 3 credit hours during Summer to be eligible for student employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist elementary school children with the development of their reading skills
• Conduct oral reading sessions
• Facilitate spelling exercises
• Teach phonics and pronunciation
• Organize individual or group activities
• Implement word/picture matching activities
• Engage in other reading development activities as directed by the supervisor

Benefits

• Hourly wage of $14.00 per hour
