About The Position

Student employees in Information Security Department will assist with projects, tasks, events and research as assigned. This position will also conduct operational tasks and assist with administrative functions, as skills and knowledge develop which may include but is not limited to the following: Complete daily Operational Security tasks as assigned, effectively communicate to supervisor all Operational Security issues in a timely manner, enhance current and/or develop new Operational Security tasks as assigned, complete monthly reports (Vulnerability Management, Spirion, etc.) as assigned, complete the reports in the timeframe assigned, effectively communicate to supervisor and stakeholders in a timely manner, assist in maintaining security tools like SIEM, vulnerability assessment, firewalls, and IPS, participate in meetings as requested, assist with administration and operational projects, and complete other tasks as assigned. Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

Requirements

  • Enrolled and actively attending the following total LCC credit hours by semester: Fall and/or Spring Semester(s) = 6.0 credits minimum (taken over 16-week period), Summer Semester = 3.0 credits minimum (taken over 8-week period)
  • 2.00 GPA minimum (unless it's student's first semester of enrollment at LCC and/or granted approval to waive requirement from the Student Employment Coordinator)
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Effective customer service skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Competency with teleconferencing software (as a user) such as WebEx, Zoom, etc.
  • Must sign and abide by Non-Disclosure Agreement

Nice To Haves

  • Previous IT experience
  • Previous experience and/or classwork in Networking and Information / Cybersecurity
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Experience with Splunk, SIEM, Cisco technologies

Responsibilities
