About The Position

The Student Advocate is responsible for building rapport with students and serving as their advocate. The Student Advocate will encourage students with respect to their various needs and challenges and seek to provide biblical clarity and discernment on this everchanging world and on personal struggles. As these responsibilities suggest, the primary focus of the Student Advocate is not academic but personal and relational, which may include academic struggles, but not academic tutoring.

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion while maintaining all federal and state compliance.
  • Commitment to regular attendance and shift scheduling, if needed.
  • Compliance with all job requirements and conduct as stated in the Faculty/Staff Handbook.
  • Agreement with the CSD Doctrinal Statement and School Mission and Vision.
  • Actively seeking counseling credentials and licensure.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous school counseling experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meet individually with students.
  • Engage with parents and school community.
  • Follow all protocols for a part-time employee while on campus, including checking in and out as well as submitting hourly time sheets.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to students and families for external counseling and other services as needed.
