About The Position

Francis House is seeking students in the LPN or RN program that are seeking per-diem opportunities. Francis House is hiring for all shifts, weekends, and holidays. Per diem caregivers are required to work at least 4 weekend shifts per month. Rates of pay begin at $21.00 hourly. Candidates with current LPN certification begin at $24.00 hourly. Our CORE Values are Compassion, Acceptance, Respect, Dignity Position Summary: Provide personal care for residents under the supervision of the Resident Care Coordinator. Assist with basic resident care and daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, oral care, skin care, and meals, walking, and turning in bed as necessary which encourages each resident's ability to maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. Maintain specific documentation as required.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited RN or LPN degree program.
  • Completed fundamentals of nursing coursework or have prior certification as CNA or CHHA.
  • Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition.
  • Ability to work shift work and weekends.
  • Must be able to work 4 weekend shifts per month.
  • Ability to work with and function as a team member at all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to respect the dignity of all who serve and are served.
  • Ability to educate residents and/or families as to the nature of disease and to provide instruction on proper care and treatment.
  • Demonstrate skill in nursing practice, ability to cope with family emotional stress and tolerance of individual lifestyles.
  • Ability to observe and record symptoms, reactions, and progress report.
  • Knowledge of resident care logs and resident histories.
  • Knowledge of clinical and social services documentation procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer resident care.
  • Knowledge of resident care logs and resident histories. Ability to read and follow instructions on care plan.
  • Ability to safely lift and physically manipulate residents.
  • Ability to communicate with others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain resident confidentiality.
  • Knowledgeable of wheelchair and stretcher safety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance and complete physical care to residents according to the individual care plan in a compassionate and understanding manner consistent with the Francis House philosophy and in accordance with the plan of care within scope of license.
  • Assist residents with hygiene and daily living activities such as bathing, oral care, skin care, meals, turning in bed and administering medications as necessary.
  • Assure that resident needs are addressed in a timely manner and they are treated with respect and dignity and feel surrounded by the unconditional love of God in a peaceful, serene environment.
  • Provide emotional and spiritual support to the resident and family during the disease and dying process.
  • Maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of each resident in the delivery of services to them.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and tactfully with the resident, visitors, families, volunteers, peers, and supervisors in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a caring environment.
  • Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures including thorough hand washing, use of disposable gloves where indicated, and proper disposal of soiled materials.
  • Report all incidents and accidents immediately.

  • Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of death, dying, bereavement, ethical issues, palliative and spiritual care.
