About The Position

The Student Billing Specialist at Drexel University is responsible for managing the posting of payments received by the Bursar's Office and providing guidance on various aspects of student billing. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. The specialist will interact with students and their families, ensuring accurate billing processes and compliance with university policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or Associate's Degree with 4 years of experience, or High School Diploma/GED with 8 years of experience.
• Experience working in a cash-handling role.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Outlook and Excel.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work with diverse populations.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently.

• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
• Working knowledge of Bursar/Student Account systems - Banner/Ellucian SIS, Touch Net.
• Ability to interpret and communicate university, state and federal policies.

Responsibilities

• Post student cash and check payments received in-person or via U.S. mail.
• Process University lockbox payments and audit accuracy of payments posted to student accounts.
• Accept and post University departmental deposits.
• Maintain housing deposit refunds and forfeitures.
• Scan and transmit daily departmental deposit back-up documents to General Accounting.
• Scan daily student check payments for electronic transfer to designated Bank.
• Daily balancing and settlement of cash drawer and cashier sessions.
• Support customer service staff and students/families in the analysis of accounts.
• Audit student accounts through reporting tools.
• Provide customer service and respond to inquiries regarding student billing.
