About The Position

The USF Health Shimberg Health Sciences Library is searching for current USF students to be student library assistants! January start dates are available, if you have the required student status. In this position, you will provide patron assistance at the library services desk in the Shimberg Health Sciences Library. With appropriate funding, this position can be extended while you meet the qualifications for student employment. For initial hire, a Summer Work Study award will be needed.

Requirements

Must be a current USF student.
Good customer service skills and attention to detail are essential.
Applicant also must have a Federal Work Study (FWS) award for the current academic year to apply for this position.
Applicants are asked to demonstrate proof of their FWS award by saving their "Award Overview" screen from OASIS as a print screen and then pasting it into a Word document and upload it as part of any additional required application materials.
If other documents (in addition to your FWS award) are required as part of your application, you must upload ALL documents as one document.

Responsibilities

General informational assistance
Patron assistance in using online library resources such as the catalog and databases
Check-out and check-in of books, reserve materials, laptops, equipment and supplies
Group study room reservation approval and checkout
Occasional assistance with printing, copying, scanning, and use of the computer lab
Providing patron support by phone, email, and Microsoft Teams.
Scanning and sending journal articles and book chapters for interlibrary loan and document delivery services.
Shelving books and journals and ensuring shelved materials are in good order.
Shimberg Library opening and closing.
Making security rounds and assist with library-wide special projects as needed.
Providing directional assistance to members of the USF community and the public, who are visiting to apply for a US passport.
