About The Position

The Student Assistant will support Gus Mart 2 and the Market Street Deli Bagel Shop as a Student Team member on the Statesboro Campus beginning Spring 2026. As a Student Team Member at GUS Mart 2 and Market Street Deli Bagel Shop, you will play a vital role in ensuring a positive customer experience in our fast-paced convenience store and Deli Bagel Shop. This position requires excellent customer service skills, teamwork, and attention to detail. You will assist in daily operations, including food preparation, stocking, cashiering, and maintaining store cleanliness. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Requirements

Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Responsibilities

Greets and assist customers, take orders accurately, and provide friendly and efficient service
Assembles bagel sandwiches, toast bagels, prepare spreads, and ensure all food is made to order
Restocks ingredients, paper goods, and beverages as needed
Maintains a clean and organized work area including food prep, dining, and storage areas
Follows all safety, sanitation, and food-handling guidelines
Stays informed about menu items, ingredients, and promotions
Operates the point-of-sale (POS) system, process transactions accurately, and handle cash and card payments
Restocks shelves, coolers, and displays as needed, ensuring proper rotation of products
Maintains a clean and organized workspace, including checkout areas, storage rooms, and product displays
Stays informed about store products and promotions to assist customers effectively
Works closely with fellow team members and management to maintain smooth daily operations
