About The Position

Simulated Participants work with College of Health students as they learn and develop examination, interviewing, and therapeutic skills in simulated clinical encounters. Simulated Participants should have a commitment to the education of healthcare professionals and lack bias towards the healthcare system. Hired persons must sign a Consent and Non-Disclosure Agreement. This position is temporary; work is assigned as needed; and may include telework. Simulated Participants work with students located at various sites across Alaska. Positions are available at the following campus sites: Anchorage, Bethel, Dillingham, Fairbanks, Homer, Juneau, Kenai, Ketchikan, Kodiak, Kotzebue, Mat-Su, Nome, Petersburg, Sitka, and Valdez.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including use of web-conferencing applications.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to perform the functions of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Work with students to portray case scenarios in a standardized, accurate, and reliable manner.
  • Follow direction of Faculty and SP Educators.
  • Interact professionally with students, faculty, supervisors, and peers.
  • Complete checklists accurately and consistently.
  • Monitor other standardized patients for quality assurance.
  • Communicate with faculty and staff about simulation inconsistencies.
  • Accept ongoing feedback from supervisor/trainer and incorporate it into case simulation.
  • Provide constructive feedback to learners and colleagues.
