The Student Clinical Assistant (SCA) program provides opportunities for nursing students to enhance their clinical experience in the region's only academic medical center and Level-One trauma center. SCAs work in a variety of inpatient settings including Cardiovascular, Critical Care, Hematology/ Oncology, Medicine, Neurosciences, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Labor and Delivery, and Surgery units. SCAs should be prepared to work both day and evenings shifts on a rotating/as needed basis, and should be prepared to work 29 hours per week. The SCA I will provide basic patient care including patient watch, transportation, stocking the unit, and answering call lights. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to the hospital setting. The SCA II will provide direct patient care including bathing, positioning, ambulating, and will have responsibility for phlebotomy tasks and EKGs
