About The Position

The Lab Assistant has responsibilities for recycling, and assisting with lab and simulation operations. These duties include recycling simulation and lab supplies for re-use, preparing supplies and equipment for labs and simulations, setting up before and cleaning up after labs and simulations, and general cleaning and maintenance as prescribed. The incumbent may receive training to assist with simulations if needed.

Requirements

• Must be a current UVU student.
• Graduated from High School.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Skills in the use of computers and related software applications.
• Must be physically able to manipulate life-sized manikins, hospital beds, medical equipment, etc.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Capable of cleaning labs, including manipulating life-sized manikins, cleaning hospital beds and bedding, and medical equipment to maintain a professional simulated hospital environment.
• Capable of accomplishing lab and simulation supply recycling after receiving this training.
• Capable of basic maintenance of low-fidelity manikins. Able to stock and restock medical supplies.
• Maintain professional behavior for all faculty and students.
• Maintain professional standards per the Department of Nursing Student Handbook.
• Able to work up to 28 hours per week.
