About The Position

The Student Assistant will support the Division of Information Technology as an IT Security Support Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Spring 2025. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
• Consistently exhibit engaging customer service
• Ability to support various constituencies served by the University
• Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
• Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance of the IT Security team's WordPress website, ensuring it remains up-to-date and informative
• Assist in various IT security projects and perform general administrative tasks as needed
• Collaborate with internal teams to understand product features and documentation needs
• Create clear and concise user interface text, online help, guides, and videos
• Develop tutorials to assist users in effectively utilizing various applications
• Provide support on various IT security tasks and projects as assigned, contributing to the overall security of the organization
• Assist in the development and implementation of security awareness campaigns to promote a culture of security within the organization
• Collaborate with the IT Security team to identify and address user needs related to security awareness and compliance
• Assist with incident response activities as needed, including data collection, analysis, and reporting

Benefits

• Proposed Salary: $10.00 per hour
• This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
