About The Position

Academic Technology is looking to hire Student Assistant Engineers! IMPORTANT: To be eligible for consideration, you must be in at least your 5th semester and already familiar with Berklee studio facilities and equipment. You will assist the staff engineers on a variety of sessions ranging from student projects, visiting artists, Global Jazz, and faculty grants. You will be expected to learn the procedures for preparing sessions prior to the day of recording, setup the live room, control room, and run the DAWs as needed. Project depending, you will also be expected to have the skills necessary to run a session on your own with minimal supervision while the staff engineer is in another session. Other duties may be required on an as-needed basis. Those who have problems with punctuality, trouble following precise directions, or have been suspended from the use of the studios need not apply. To be considered for an interview, you must include a cover letter along with your resume.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • To be eligible for consideration, you must be in at least your 5th semester and already familiar with Berklee studio facilities and equipment.
  • Good knowledge of DAW workflow
  • A basic understanding of large format digital and analog consoles
  • Previous recording/sound experience with acoustic ensembles
  • Excellent interactive, communication, and customer service skills
  • Must be able to work weekday late evening sessions and be available for some weekend sessions
