About The Position

The Student Assistant (Career Ambassador) role involves providing exceptional customer service and career development support to students, staff, faculty, and employers. Key responsibilities include reviewing career documents like resumes, cover letters, CVs, LinkedIn profiles, and personal statements, coaching students on interview strategies, professional dress, and conducting mock interviews to inspire professional growth. The role also entails providing one-on-one assistance and career information to students and alumni, facilitating career development outreach presentations to classrooms and student organizations, and performing administrative duties such as logging student information and developing resources. Career Ambassadors are expected to attend monthly professional development training and supervisory coaching sessions, check career center email regularly, assist with Career Showcase and other career center events, and uphold the Career Connections Center's values. Additionally, the position involves assisting in managing the daily operations of the Molm Family Gator Career Closet, which includes customer interaction, inventory management, data processing, and maintaining a clean and friendly work environment. The Career Connections Center values advocate for all, encourage working through challenges, empower professional growth and personal care, drive purposeful impact, foster creativity and innovation, and embrace play.

Requirements

  • Make a two-semester commitment to the career center (including Summer 2026)
  • Be available to attend monthly in-services and training meetings throughout each semester
  • Commit to working a minimum of 10-12 hours a week
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Maintain a 2.0 grade point average
  • Federal Work Study are strongly encouraged to apply

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service to the following areas: phone, front desks, Drop-Ins sessions, appointments, and referring students, staff, faculty and employers to appropriate services
  • Review resumes, cover letter, CVs, LinkedIn profiles and personal statements
  • Coach students in interview strategies, professional dress and conducting mock interviews
  • Convey constructive and empowering feedback to inspire students' professional growth
  • Provide one-on-one assistance and career information to students and alumni
  • Facilitate career development outreach presentations to classrooms and student organizations, topics ranging from resume development to career design
  • Perform administrative duties including logging student information, developing resources, and Other projects
  • Attend monthly professional development training and supervisory coaching sessions
  • Check career center email regularly and respond promptly
  • Assist with Career Showcase and other career center events
  • Uphold career center values in all areas of work
  • Assisting in managing the daily operations of the Molm Family Gator Career Closet, which includes but is not limited to customer interaction, inventory management, data processing, and maintaining a clean and friendly work environment.
