The Student Assistant in Access Services at Georgia Gwinnett College Library plays a vital role in supporting the library's mission to meet the information and research needs of students, faculty, and the community. This part-time position involves various circulation activities, assisting patrons with library resources, and maintaining the library's orderliness and appearance. The role is designed for students currently enrolled at GGC, providing them with an opportunity to gain work experience while contributing to the academic environment.

  • Perform circulation activities (e.g., checking materials in/out, renewals).
  • Assist patrons in locating materials using the Library of Congress classification.
  • Support patrons in using library equipment, including computers, copiers, scanners, and printers.
  • Handle incoming phone calls at the Circulation Desk.
  • Answer walk-up questions and direct patrons to other staff or departments as needed.
  • Assist with basic reference inquiries.
  • Sort and shelve library materials.
  • Monitor security gate alarms and library entrance.
  • Maintain library appearance and orderliness.
  • Participate in collection maintenance activities.
  • Submit help desk tickets for troubleshooting library equipment.
  • Clean library computers and equipment.
  • Perform additional related tasks as required.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule of 10-25 hours per week, including nights and weekends, based on library needs and class schedules.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6.0 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College in the current semester.
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment.
  • Must be in good conduct standing with the Office of Student Integrity for the duration of employment.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows environment, Microsoft Office, and Web browsers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
