About The Position

The Student Assistant – Academic Affairs provides high-level administrative support to the Senior Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, and other professional staff within the Provost’s Office. This position is responsible for a range of duties including general clerical and office support, assist with conducting research and benchmarking on academic initiatives at peer institutions, managing and maintaining spreadsheets and reports, assisting with event planning and coordination, and supporting day-to-day office operations. The Student Assistant works closely with Provost’s Office staff on special projects requiring discretion, organization, and strong attention to detail, and gains valuable experience in academic administration, planning, and institutional operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative and clerical support, including document preparation, scheduling, filing, and correspondence.
  • Assist with research, data collection, and benchmarking related to academic programs, policies, and peer institutions.
  • Create, manage, and maintain spreadsheets, reports, and tracking tools to support office initiatives and decision-making.
  • Support planning and coordination of meetings, events, and special programs sponsored by the SVPAA’s Office.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the SVPAA’s Office, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Support special projects as assigned, requiring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism when handling sensitive information.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and campus partners across Academic Affairs and across the university.
