About The Position

The Student Apprentice position is designed for individuals currently enrolled in a diesel engine repair and/or automotive program. The role focuses on learning preventative maintenance and performing routine mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs on various equipment under the guidance of senior technicians. This apprenticeship provides hands-on experience and training in a shop environment, emphasizing safety and cleanliness.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a diesel engine repair and/or automotive program working towards technical certification.
• The ability to analyze, translate and apply technical information.
• Dependable and trustworthy traits.
• Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
• Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.
• Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.
• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) and no prior experience necessary.
• Basic mechanical aptitude required.
• Clean driving record and valid Driver's License required.
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by the position, location, and/or customer.

Nice To Haves

• Basic computer navigation and utilization skills required.

Responsibilities

• Learn basic parts, processes, and maintenance techniques as instructed by more senior level Shop Technician.
• Work with more senior level Shop Technicians to understand how to accurately troubleshoot and diagnose routine problems with customer's equipment.
• Retrieve parts and other supplies for more senior level Shop Technicians.
• Learn how to complete all work orders and time sheets in a legible, accurate, and timely manner.
• Provide assistance to more senior level Shop Technicians on larger jobs.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
