The Student Ambassador assists the Office of Institutional Advancement by providing frontline support and assist to donors, alumni, prospective donors, and guests via phone call, text, system management, and excellent constituent service. The candidate must be a professing Christ follower who possesses a strong commitment to the mission and core values of Southwestern Seminary and Texas Baptist College, possess a clear understanding of Southern Baptist heritage and culture, and agrees to serve in accordance with and not contrary to the current edition of the Baptist Faith and Message. Since duties of this position require the employee to represent the Seminary to prospective and current students, candidates must abide by the Seminary bylaws, the Employee Handbook, and the current edition of the Baptist Faith and Message as a condition of employment.

  • Serve as a representative of Southwestern Seminary and Texas Baptist College within the Office of Institutional Advancement
  • Actively communicate with donors, alumni, prospective donors, and guests via phone, email, and text
  • Work to achieve institutional goals including fundraising, communication campaigns, and systems processes
  • Articulate the value propositions of SWBTS to donors, prospective donors, and guests
  • Coordinate with the Digital Development Officer/Data Specialist and the Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement
  • Assist with on-campus events including Institutional Advancement Events and Campus Tours
  • Conduct daily business functions to deliver core value propositions to donors, alumni, prospective donors, and guests
  • Understand the giving process, stewardship process, and gratitude processes
  • Serve as the first line of contact for donors, prospective donors, alumni, and guests
  • Make phone calls to constituents regarding expressions of gratitude and call campaigns
  • Provide excellent communication and customer service to all constituents
  • Conduct daily business operations including entering interactions into the Slate database and answering inquiries
  • Execute call-campaigns and process gifts and communication
  • Bachelor's degree (completed or in process)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong people skills with the ability to communicate the mission, policies, and procedures of the Seminary/College
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to adapt to new systems such as recruiting CRM databases
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to coordinate various activities simultaneously
  • Comfortable on the phone and cold-calling prospective donors and constituents
  • Experience with sales, customer service, and CRM databases is preferred
  • Ability to critically think, solve problems, and provide solutions to constituent inquiries
  • Understanding of the importance of theological education and Christian higher education
  • Self-starter with administrative ability
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Successful completion of background check, education verification, work verification, and credit check may be required
  • Valid driver's license and successful clearance of Motor Vehicle Report
  • Bilingual speaking abilities
