About The Position

The Senior Specialist of Student Affairs assists portfolio and Cluster leadership by researching and synthesizing information and data to produce scholarly articles, background papers, presentations, talking points, and training materials on a wide variety of topics related to student affairs in medical education. They serve as a trusted resource and content expert in student affairs initiatives, particularly medical student specialty choice and advising. The Senior Specialist is responsible for leading the implementation of specialty choice exploration initiatives and for building and maintaining relevant relationships with specialty leadership. They document their review of the latest research and report findings of relevance for the Cluster and synthesize information to produce presentations, talking points, reports, and newsletters on a variety of student affairs topics for Cluster leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 - 7 years of related work experience in higher education, medical education, student affairs, and/or student advising, including experience with career advising.
  • Experience managing projects or coordinating across multiple teams or stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable materials for diverse audiences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience producing reports, presentations, or web-based resources.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience in student affairs either at a medical school or related organization
  • Working knowledge of student affairs, student services, or academic advising practices.
  • Familiarity with issues related to medical student development, specialty choice, and the transition to residency.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading matrixed or cross-functional teams to produce scholarly or educational materials.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or maintaining online content, virtual learning materials, or training programs.
  • Experience collaborating with faculty, administrators, and national stakeholders on initiatives supporting medical student development or advising.

Responsibilities

  • Manage diverse teams to produce student affairs products and resources for multiple audiences
  • Work on behalf of Cluster leadership to produce scholarly products in alignment with Cluster priorities
  • Contribute to cross-cluster specialty choice exploration initiatives
  • Monitor the educational literature to identify emerging issues and innovations in student affairs, student services, advising, and transition to residency
  • Serve as trusted resource and content expert in student affairs
