About The Position

The Eberly College of Science at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a dynamic, student-centered professional for the position of Program Coordinator (Student Advocacy Specialist - Advanced Professional) in the Office for Undergraduate Students, which has a mission to support student success throughout the College. With a primary focus on undergraduate students, the Program Coordinator will report to the Director of Undergraduate Equity Programs and support the programming and scholarly activities for students in the Eberly College of Science including the recruitment, retention, and engagement of students.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience are required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Organizational skills and project management experience.
  • Positive record of working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Intercultural insights and background.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and assess a first-year healthcare focused student initiative in the Eberly College of Science to promote retention to provide early exposure to academics, resources, and support.
  • Design, implement, and assess activities for early engagement and outreach for incoming students and college-wide programming for current students.
  • Meet individually with students from the College and partner with varying offices within the College and across campus as needed to support students' growth and academic success.
  • Develop, organize, and implement student engagement efforts for science-focused student organizations.
  • Research and advertise internal and external STEM-focused scholarship opportunities to undergraduate students within the College and work one-on-one with current students on the development of scholarship application materials.
  • Knowledge and awareness of budgets and financial policies.
