The organization is dedicated to the community and focused on providing resources and opportunities. As a community resource the organization also provides services to families and a growing senior population. In 2020 the organization began food distribution as an additional way to provide economic support to the community we serve. Alfred Smith YABC is a small, academically rigorous, full-time New York City Department of Education program designed to re-engage high school students who are over-age and under-credited or have dropped out of high school. Under the direction of the Program Director the Student Advisor will provide support over a wide variety of areas including college and career readiness, academic progress monitoring, day-to-day student issues, social-emotional and personal development. Student Advisors will follow the Primary Person Model where they will be the first point of contact for students, parents and staff members. It is expected to work collaboratively with our partner school faculty and staff to ensure each student’s academic success.
