About The Position

We’re seeking a passionate and resourceful Student Advisor to join our team. This is a fully remote, student and family-facing role that emphasizes building positive student relationships, coaching student growth, monitoring progress, and managing records and data. As a MOHS Student Advisor, you will be integral in shaping the community for our students, parents, teachers, and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Secondary Education or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of full-time experience in a student-facing role at the secondary level (grades 7–12)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with families about expectations and performance and collaborate with colleagues to support student success.
  • Demonstrated professional judgment and ability to balance empathy with accountability in student-facing decisions.
  • Willingness to support administrative tasks, lead a club, or assist with coverage during busy periods
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a caseload independently
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment
  • Comfort adapting to evolving systems and implementing new processes
  • Proficiency with online tools and ability to learn new platforms quickly

Nice To Haves

  • Online advising or teaching experience
  • Experience supporting neurodiverse learners
  • Familiarity with homeschool communities
  • Experience using student data to guide interventions
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and/or Airtable

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the daily point of contact for assigned students, addressing their academic concerns and supporting their growth.
  • Conduct advising meetings to address academic concerns, support student success, and apply social-emotional learning strategies to promote engagement, persistence, and progress.
  • Monitor and analyze student data between advising meetings to identify indicators of struggle or disengagement, assess patterns over time, and initiate appropriate support as needed.
  • Maintain clear, timely documentation of student interactions, advising decisions, and follow-up actions
  • Partner with Student Support Specialists, Academic Counselors, and teachers to support individual student success and continuity of care.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback to improve advising processes, student supports, and school systems in collaboration with advising leadership.
  • Engage with students in online social spaces, clubs, and events, fostering a safe and supportive online community
  • Participate in regular meetings with other MOHS staff and faculty members to discuss student advising and engagement strategies
  • Act as a liaison between students, families, and school administration to ensure clear and effective communication
