About The Position

Tallahassee State College (TSC), recently recognized as one of the Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges for 2025, is excited to announce a full-time opportunity for the position of Student Accessibility Advisor with Student Support Services. We are seeking a dedicated professional who shares our commitment to fostering a vibrant workplace community. As Student Accessibility Advisor, you'll play a key role in coordinating accommodations and providing academic advising for students with disabilities. Representing SAS at recruitment and retention events, conducts assessments to improve services, provides orientation and training for faculty and staff, and actively engages in professional development to stay current with evolving practices and legislation in the field of disability services.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or sociology from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of related experience or Master Degree in (2) years in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, School Guidance Counseling, Counseling with experience in assistive technology in higher education or related field .

Responsibilities

  • Processing accommodation requests and providing academic advising to students registered with SAS.
  • Meeting with students to coordinate and implement individualized accommodations, assisting them in identifying and communicating their needs to faculty and staff, and determining appropriate assistive technologies and adaptive resources based on the functional impact of their disabilities.
  • Monitoring student files for compliance, arranges necessary supports such as interpreters, note-takers, and specialized equipment, and collaborates with campus partners to ensure a comprehensive support system.
  • Representing SAS at recruitment and retention events, conducts assessments to improve services, provides orientation and training for faculty and staff, and actively engages in professional development to stay current with evolving practices and legislation in the field of disability services.
