About The Position

The Structures Lead / Sheet Metal Technician is responsible for leading and performing aircraft structural maintenance, repair, and modification tasks in support of flight operations at Al Udeid Air Base. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring all sheet metal and structural work is completed safely, accurately, and in compliance with applicable technical orders, engineering data, and quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in aircraft structures or sheet metal maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Proficiency in aircraft structural repair, fabrication, and corrosion control.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical orders, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Must be able to meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy Requirements, as outlined in the USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD EIGHTEEN TO USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL AND INDIVIDUAL-UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for Qatar
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • Must have and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of structures and sheet metal technicians.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure maintenance priorities are met.
  • Provide on-the-job training, mentorship, and technical guidance.
  • Enforce safety, tool control, and Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention standards.
  • Coordinate with maintenance supervision, quality assurance, and other maintenance sections.
  • Perform and oversee aircraft structural repairs, modifications, and inspections.
  • Fabricate, install, and repair sheet metal components, skins, frames, ribs, and structural assemblies.
  • Conduct corrosion detection, treatment, and prevention.
  • Use technical orders, engineering drawings, and maintenance manuals to accomplish tasks.
  • Perform drilling, riveting, forming, and bonding using approved methods and materials.
  • Ensure proper documentation of maintenance actions in maintenance tracking systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable technical data, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Prepare aircraft and components for inspection and assist with discrepancy resolution.
  • Identify structural damage and recommend repair actions.
  • Maintain accountability for tools, equipment, and consumables.
