About The Position

QES Engineering Inspection is seeking an experienced Lead Structures Inspector to join our team. The Lead Structures Inspectors will complete oversight and inspection of complicated heavy, highway bridges and structures. The ideal candidate will be able to read and interpret plans, work in adverse water conditions, and climb structures (as needed). This position has room for GROWTH and has the potential to transition into a Structures Manager, depending on overall performance. Long-term employment opportunities are available with QES! Requirements

  • Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma. Bachelors’ degree or higher in a civil engineering discipline is strongly preferred.
  • Must have 5+ years of similar structural inspection experience.
  • Must be NICET certified (either NICET II or III)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Please note: this position could have varying shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience on PennDOT or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) projects is a PLUS.
  • PennDOT Concrete and NECEPT Bituminous are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete oversight and inspection of complicated heavy highway bridges and structures
  • Prepare daily documentation and complete forms as needed
  • Complete measurements and calculations daily
  • Ensure the construction adheres to the project plans, specifications and special provisions
  • Verify the proper materials and methods of construction are being performed
