The Structures I/II Inspector position is a full-time role within the Quality department, focusing on the inspection of high-quality aircraft parts and assemblies. The inspector will partner with production teams to ensure compliance with Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS), and other manufacturing instructions. The role involves performing various mechanical, dimensional, functional, and system inspections, as well as testing units for functionality and conformance. Inspectors will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Perform diverse and difficult mechanical, dimensional, functional and system inspections including aircraft system checks.
  • Inspect detail parts, sub-assemblies, major assemblies and systems to ensure they meet technical data requirements.
  • Test units for functionality and conformance.
  • Interpret and work with technical documentation such as Piper specifications, national specifications, and FAA regulations.
  • Review production travelers, serial number records, and compliance sheets for accuracy.
  • Verify that all time-sensitive aircraft components are current.
  • Ensure only current and approved drawings and specifications are used during production.
  • Perform visual and physical inspections and tests on components and systems.
  • Verify compliance with test procedures and flight safety requirements.
  • Use geometry and math to calculate dimensions and resolve issues.
  • Perform conformity and First Article Inspections (FAI) as required.
  • Report deviations from specifications and initiate corrective actions.
  • Interface with Production, Engineering, and other departments to achieve corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and procedures.
  • Monitor assigned work area for adherence to procedures and proper use of tools.
  • Scrutinize job facets and report any issues to supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Environmental Protection, and other program requirements.
  • Audit departmental programs for effectiveness.
  • Ability to perform complex inspections using advanced measuring systems such as FARO arm and laser tracking.
  • Understanding of FAA regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to generate complex and detailed reports for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in training and assisting team members.
  • Ability to perform tool verifications and recertifications.
  • Experience with Material Review Board activities and standard repairs.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with safety and environmental protection programs.
