About The Position

We are seeking a Structured Cabling Technician who will be a critical member of a U.S.-based global systems integrator providing technology solutions and services for commercial and government clients. This is a full-time permanent role. This job is a professional low voltage technical and installation position working on construction sites, health care facilities, government facilities, commercial and retail buildings. Responsibilities Technician under the guidance of the Foreman, Supervisor and Project Manager will be responsible for: The installation, termination, and testing of low voltage cabling systems in multiple work environments to include construction and active facilities. Technician must be dependable, provide necessary support to the Foreman and assist in successful implementation on the project. Technician must exhibit the ability to provide outstanding customer service and deliver project installations according to the customer’s expectations.

  • 3-5 years of industry experience.
  • Knowledge of fiber and copper troubleshooting is needed.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • This position requires a background check and driver’s license check.
  • Ability to lift various items is required, as well to stand for long periods of time and climb ladders.
  • Must be able to lift 75lbs and climb ladders as required.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • BICSI and industry Certifications are preferred.
  • BICSI Installer 2 Copper / Fiber, Industry manufacturer certifications - preferred
  • OSHA safety certification 10/30 - preferred
  • HILTI powder actuated tools - preferred
  • Confined Space - preferred
  • Aerial Lift - preferred

Responsibilities

  • The installation, termination, and testing of low voltage cabling systems in multiple work environments to include construction and active facilities.
  • Provide necessary support to the Foreman and assist in successful implementation on the project.
  • Exhibit the ability to provide outstanding customer service and deliver project installations according to the customer’s expectations.
  • Supervise technicians and provide OJT (On the Job Training) when required.
  • Stay current with the latest technologies and installation procedures.
  • Have a full understanding of the scope of work.
  • Have the ability to understand and accurately complete all paperwork required of assigned project.
  • Run small to medium projects when required.
  • Be fully competent of the Vision standard for quality installation craftsmanship and customer service excellence.
  • Be fully competent at installation and termination of various copper and fiber products in accordance with TIA/EIA standards and BICSI standards.
  • Be fully competent in testing and troubleshooting of copper and fiber cable plant systems in accordance with TIA/EIA standards and BICSI standards.
  • Be fully competent at directing his team in assembling, installing, and securing various cable trays, racks, and cabinets used in telecommunications closets.
  • Understand the basic principles of grounding and bonding as described in the BICSI installation methods and must be capable of properly bonding cable trays and properly grounding racks, cable trays, etc.
  • Be knowledgeable in the proper operation of all Vision’s Cat5, Cat5E, Cat6 testers to include proper operation of the tester, properly saving test results and properly downloading and storing test results on the network.
  • Be knowledgeable in the proper operation of Vision’s fiber power meter testers to include proper operation of the tester, properly saving test results.
  • Be knowledgeable in the proper operation of an OTDR to include proper operation of the OTDR, properly saving test results.
  • Be fully capable of interpreting test results from fiber and copper testers and successfully troubleshooting and properly repairing the fiber or copper cable plant to ultimately ensure a correct and valid test.
