About The Position

The Structured Cabling Technician plays a critical role in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems that support telecommunications and data networks across various commercial and industrial environments. This position ensures that all cabling infrastructure is installed according to industry standards and client specifications, facilitating reliable and high-performance network connectivity. The technician will work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver timely and efficient cabling solutions that meet both current and future technological needs. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to ensure the integrity and longevity of the cabling systems. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in structured cabling installation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of copper and fiber optic cabling standards and testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites within the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification from recognized industry organizations such as BICSI Installer or Fiber Optic Association (FOA).
  • Experience with network equipment installation and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and OSHA regulations related to cabling work.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces safely.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working in team environments.

Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cabling systems in accordance with industry standards such as ANSI/TIA-568 and BICSI guidelines.
  • Perform site surveys and assess existing cabling infrastructure to plan and execute new installations or upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot and repair cabling faults to maintain optimal network performance and minimize downtime.
  • Document all cabling layouts, test results, and maintenance activities accurately for client records and compliance purposes.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure cabling installations align with project timelines, specifications, and safety regulations.
