Structured Cable/IT Technician JOB FUNCTIONS ESSENTIAL Proper installation techniques of low voltage telecommunication cabling (CAT6 and higher). Testing and certifying new and existing networks. Identifying and removing redundant cabling. Installing of cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks. Installing new infrastructure in existing facilities. Install IP CCTV cameras, card access hardware, and AV equipment. Troubleshooting existing networks. Provide some assistance as directed with site surveys and bidding. Installing and maintaining equipment racks. Documenting new and existing networks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repair fiber-optic cabling (not required but highly valued). IT Helpdesk experience (not required but highly valued). MARGINAL Practices safely and competently within job description. Any other functions specified by supervisor. Must be willing and able to work weekends and after hours. Must be able to travel overnight extensively. Working in tight and cramped spaces.
