The Structural Welder position is a full-time, rotational role based in Carlsbad, New Mexico, where the incumbent will report directly to the Welder Foreman or craft supervisor. This role is critical for the safe and efficient operation of welding machines, which are used to join or connect various types of metal parts for metal structures. The Structural Welder will be responsible for selecting appropriate welding equipment, interpreting blueprints, and determining the specifications that need to be applied for each task. Adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and quality expectations set by both the client and the company is paramount in this role. The essential job functions include interpreting, analyzing, and constructing blueprints and structural drawings, as well as adhering to applicable welding methods to complete structural fabrications. The welder will utilize both manual and mechanical processes to weld in various positions and will be responsible for calibrating welding tools and equipment according to welding procedure specifications. Additionally, the welder will clean and prepare metal workpieces using scrapers, chemical solutions, and grinders to ensure a smooth and contaminant-free surface. The role also involves cutting, repairing, and assembling building components to form complete structures, inspecting and evaluating welds to ensure they are free of defects, and conducting post-welding activities such as grinding, cleaning, and polishing of workpieces. Other job responsibilities may include performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a current and valid driver's license, and preferably two years of experience in oilfield fabrication and installation. The welder must attend training sessions and seminars as required by the department to maintain and enhance their skills.
