The Welder's responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, understanding the safety features of the machines and tooling to ensure they are operating without compromise to safety systems. The role requires following safety protocol, including wearing heat resistant gloves, flame resistant (FR) clothing, protective masks, and safety toed footwear. The welder plans details of work order procedures, gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job, and assesses equipment, structures, materials, and job specifications for appropriate welding positions and methods. The ability to perform MIG welding activities to steel components is essential. The welder must maintain welding fixtures and tooling in a suitable working order, visually inspect weld quality, and use other quality inspection equipment to confirm compliance to part specifications. Additionally, the welder maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and work area, and performs other duties as assigned.
