Summary: A Structural Welder raises, places and unites girders, columns and other structural-steel members to form completed structures or structure frameworks.

Requirements

Three (3) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Welder.
Ability to identify all techniques of welding (TIG, MIG, Arc etc.) and know all properties of various types of metals and how heat affects them.
Completion of welding certification(s) required by company and/or client.
Must have locking toolbox and tools necessary to perform the job.
Must be able to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.

Responsibilities

Welding Safety – work safely around the hazards associated with the construction field.
Welding Tools – use hand, electric, pneumatic and hydraulic tools and in a safe manner.
Blue Print Reading – Correctly reads and understands plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details, specifications, erection manuals and/or blue prints and makes competent decisions based on measurable criteria.
Visualizes objects in three-dimensions from plans and drawings.
Secure components together applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
Bolt, clamp and tack weld parts to secure in position for welding.
Prepare material for welding by cutting or grinding using pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and/or grinder.
Set material in stands, racks , hoists etc. for welding
Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas shielded arc, gas shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.
Repair products by dismantling, straightening and reshaping.
Reassemble parts using cutting torch, straightening press and hand tools.
