About The Position

The Structural Welder at Westerman is responsible for the set-up and operation of welding equipment, primarily working on skids. This role requires expertise in welding to solve problems, eliminate scrap and rework, and ensure high-quality repairs of defective products. The position emphasizes the importance of regular attendance, adherence to safety policies, and effective communication across departments.

Requirements

• Must pass closed root 3G FLUXCORE test.
• Welding: 1+ years (preferred).
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic safety training.
• Must have a firm understanding of volts and amps and be able to adjust accordingly.
• Basic data entry skills for maintenance breakdown calls.
• Capability to read and interpret blueprints, work order instructions, weld symbols, and operate required tools involved in position.
• Good problem-solving skills, safety practices, and attention to quality.
• Must understand and follow the quality policy and procedures - detect defects.

Responsibilities

• Plans details of working procedure.
• Inspects finished product for completeness and conformance to all quality assurance procedures.
• Set up, troubleshoot, and make adjustments to welding machines as needed to maintain excellent production and quality.
• Participates in improvement planning - modification of weld procedures to increase safety, efficiency, and quality.
• Follows all safety policies and procedures.
• Consistently maintains production averages at or above the expected standards.
• Communicates effectively with all departments.
• Other duties as assigned.
