About The Position

The Structural Welder is responsible for joining, fabricating, and repairing metal structures and components used in industrial maintenance and construction projects. This role requires proficiency in welding techniques, blueprint interpretation, and adherence to safety and quality standards to ensure the integrity and reliability of structures such as beams, columns, and frameworks.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a Stick/Mig Test.
  • Proficient in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW welding methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and piping diagrams.
  • Familiarity with common welding tools and inspection techniques.
  • Strong physical condition to handle strenuous work environments.
  • Strong attention to safety and detail.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in English to understand technical documents, safety procedures, and instructions relevant to job duties.
  • English proficiency is required due to operational and safety communication needs.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 2-4 years of pipe welding experience in a fabrication environment.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and working in confined or elevated areas.
  • Exposure to heat, noise, and hazardous materials.
  • Must wear proper PPE at all times including hood, gloves, and protective clothing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding operations using SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, or GTAW processes as required by job specifications.
  • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and welding procedure specifications.
  • Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, or fitting components prior to welding.
  • Align, position, and secure structural parts using clamps, jigs, or fixtures.
  • Inspect completed welds to verify quality, strength, and compliance with codes.
  • Perform repairs on existing structural components in maintenance environments.
  • Maintain welding tools, equipment, and PPE in proper working condition.
  • Follow established safety policies, ensuring proper use of fall protection, ventilation, and fire prevention practices.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, fitters, and other crew members to complete projects on time and within specifications.
