Physical Plant Services (PPS) supports the educational and public service programs of Fort Lewis College through the delivery of effective operational support, maintenance services and the management of the College’s facilities construction program. Services are provided by the Service Center, Custodial Services, Electrical Systems Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, Mechanical Systems Maintenance, Structural Maintenance, LTC (Labor, Trades and Crafts) general labor services, and Planning, Design & Construction work units. The Primary goal of the Structural Maintenance work unit is to provide services and facilities that create the best possible environment for teaching and learning at Fort Lewis College. Individual Structural Trades work unit staff members are skilled in carpentry, general maintenance, roofing, painting, and locksmithing. This essential services position exists to support the mission of the Structural Maintenance work unit, Physical Plant Services, and the College. The incumbent will report to a Structural Maintenance Supervisor (Structural Trades III) while also working with and receiving direction from other Structural Trades II staff in the work unit. This position follows established work procedures and guidelines to perform building maintenance work. This position ensures the construction, maintenance and modifications of all state buildings and related equipment fully complies with specifications and plans and adheres to all applicable codes, while following established safety practices and Fort Lewis College standards.
