Duties and Responsibilities: As a Structural Tech 2, you’ll be at the heart of our facilities team, performing a wide range of carpentry and structural tasks that keep our spaces functional, beautiful, and safe. Your work will include: Please Note: This position requires you to work in the Health Sciences Center (HSC) area of UNM. This means you will be working in medical laboratory research, medical clinical, and medical academic spaces. These HSC environments may require the donning of medically approved personal protective equipment (PPE). Why Join Us? Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.

  • Ability to perform roof inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Constructs, repairs, and/or installs carpentry elements including moldings, laminates, trim, and window and door systems.
  • Constructs and installs custom cabinetry.
  • Installs, repairs, or maintains door openers/closers and door hardware.
  • Installs glass doors, door hardware and metal framing.
  • Performs restoration work on wood cabinets, flooring, and furniture.
  • Reads and interprets structural blueprints, field drawings, and project layouts.
  • May perform other tasks to include repairs or installation of frame walls, sheetrock, insulation, flooring, painting, and other carpentry work.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
