About The Position
At Atlantic Constructors, Inc. (ACI), we pride ourselves on building not just structures, but a culture that values each individual. We are currently seeking a Steel Estimator to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial as it involves providing comprehensive estimates for various industrial projects, modular fabrication, and supplemental commercial projects, primarily focusing on industrial and manufacturing plants. The Steel Estimator will work under the guidance of the Estimating Manager and must be a self-starter capable of assembling steel trade estimates with moderate supervision. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and be a flexible team player. The responsibilities include reviewing all construction documents, soliciting subcontractor and vendor quotations, and participating in pre-bid meetings and site visits. The Estimator will utilize the Tekla PowerFab (Trimble) computerized estimating system to take off all equipment and materials for the specific scope of work. It is essential to ensure that all estimates are complete and compliant with the plans and specifications. Upon project award, the Estimator will assist in the procurement of materials and equipment and will enter the steel trade estimate into the job cost control program. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities but requires a collaborative approach to coordinate work with in-house trades such as Sheet Metal, Fire Protection, Plumbing, Electrical, and Millwrights. The work environment is primarily office-based, with occasional site visits that may involve walking through construction sites and navigating stairs and ladders.
