About The Position

BETA Group, Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior bridge engineer ready to prove themself in a Structural Project Manager role. This individual will have the opportunity to lead and oversee bridge/culvert design projects from initiation through completion. The ideal candidate should have previous experience piloting bridge assignments for NHDOT, MassDOT, other state agencies, and municipalities. In addition, there will be opportunities to manage projects and design other structures for municipalities, to oversee the preparation of contract plans and documents, and mentor junior staff. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • 13+ years of related engineering experience
  • Demonstrated strong background in structural/bridge engineering
  • NHDOT design experience
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge and experience with the implementation of planning, design, bidding and construction oversight of bridge projects
  • Skilled in writing and ability to prepare formal reports
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Enthusiasm to learn and willingness to take on responsibility
  • Willing to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Must be able to collect field data and measurements; and perform inspections for bridges and other structures
  • Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Proficient in OpenBridge Designer, SAP2000, AASHTOWare BrR, Excel
  • Strong background in structural analysis
  • MassDOT, RIDOT, VTrans, CTDOT, or MaineDOT design experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from development of scopes, budgets and schedules through to design and construction phase services on a variety of bridge rehabilitation and replacement and other projects
  • Work with staff to produce planning documents, advance detailed engineering designs, develop and review contract documents for construction
  • Produce high-quality designs and reports, responsible for ensuring proper quality control procedures on all projects
  • Supervise/coordinate/mentor junior staff; instruct them on technical procedures and review their work for accuracy
  • Coordinate with clients and drive assigned projects to completion
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of projects
  • Manage multiple ongoing projects
  • Continue to broaden technical skills within the chosen discipline
  • Lead team, client and public meetings
  • Oversee, collaborate and communicate with multi-discipline subconsultants across internal disciplines/office locations to complete projects on time and on budget
