Our Forensic practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues. We have an immediate opportunity for a Forensic Project Engineer with interests in structural forensic investigation, litigation support, risk loss consulting, structural repair, and retrofit design. This individual will be expected to execute structural investigations of existing buildings and to design remedial repairs for deficient conditions. The investigations include failure cause and origin analysis, feasibility analyses, risk loss insurance and claims response, and litigation support.

Requirements

  • Degree (Master's preferred) in structural engineering or related field; an undergraduate degree is required.
  • Professional Engineer and/or SE License preferred.
  • At least four years of experience related to forensic structural engineering or new construction.
  • Field experience with diverse building types preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally.
  • Basic knowledge of finite element modeling.
  • Proficient in Revit; experience with AutoCAD a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with damage assessment and cause and origin investigations.
  • Prepare field notes, feasibility studies, and specifications.
  • Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings and prepare materials related to presentations for key stakeholders.
  • Perform the required structural calculations, designs, and equipment selections for a broad range of project types.
  • Perform peer reviews and condition assessments.
