About The Position

IMEG is seeking a Structural Project Engineer/Designer in St. Louis, MO, to join our top 5 U.S. engineering design firm known for award-winning projects, advanced technology, and a collaborative culture. You’ll design structural systems for buildings and infrastructure, lead projects, and work alongside nationally recognized engineers on high-profile, sustainable designs. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, utilize tools like Revit and high-powered analysis software, and ensure project accuracy, code compliance, and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred with 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and structures
  • Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff
  • Proficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural engineering design and analysis software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficiency in the use of BIM software
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight stays

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred
  • Engineering In Training (EIT) Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis and design of structural systems using various building materials, ensuring compliance with codes and IMEG standards
  • Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations using engineering software and tools
  • Engage with clients to define requirements, communicate technical details, and maintain strong professional relationships
  • Manage project planning, budgeting, scheduling, documentation, and progress tracking against scope and fees
  • Analyze engineering challenges and develop innovative, practical solutions with senior staff
  • Review designs, calculations, and specifications to meet quality control, industry standards, and client requirements
  • Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and best practices; contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts
  • Prioritize safety, ethics, and professionalism in all work
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, architects, contractors and owners to deliver integrated project solutions
  • Identify potential project issues and escalate to the Project Manager as needed
  • Oversee projects from bidding through design and construction administration
