About The Position

This is a full-time remote opportunity, however - we are seeking a candidate that is based close to a Pacific Northwest NV5 office (Seattle, WA; Vancouver, WA; Portland,OR) If you are a structural engineer aiming to grow your career within buildings / vertical structural design engineering, then our Structural Project Engineer opportunity will provide you with a fulfilling position, having you lead the design of projects from start to finish in a variety of sectors including Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, and Life Science. You will work closely with senior engineers, learning what makes a successful design practice. As our Structural Project Engineer, you will be hands-on with technical design of buildings projects, oversee multiple projects simultaneously including budgeting, scheduling, and client management & communication, and attend project sites and client meetings. Collaborate with teams of engineers and architects to complete project deliverables. Coordinate design work with other engineering and architectural disciplines. Meet client expectations for budget and schedule while delivering a quality product. Increase proficiency in relevant design, modeling, and analysis software applications such as Revit, ETABS, RISA, RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, RAM Concept, Enercalc, Excel, SteelSmart, and Simpson CFS Designer. Increase your knowledge of local codes and industry standards. Assist with budget estimates and write-ups for proposals. Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, M.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in the State of Washington or Oregon.
  • 5+ years of relevant structural engineering design experience (Concrete, Steel, Masonry, Wood).
  • Knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction practices specific to high-seismic regions.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., ETABS, RISA, RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, RAM Concept, Enercalc, Excel).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience assembling calculation packages for submittal to agencies (DSA and HCAI a plus).
  • Revit experience including modeling and producing construction drawings is preferred.
  • Experience with seismic evaluations and retrofits per ASCE 41 a plus.
